Wednesday WrapUp Mushrooms and More

Mushrooms in color by Sheri 42

Welcome

On most Wednesdays, check this blog for a strategy, process, or reflection for illustration with the iPad app ProCreate or Affinity Designer. This week I’ve played with mushrooms, squirrels, and patterns. Take a look. If you have questions, please ask!

Mushrooms

I resurrected my mushroom designs and did some quick paintings as well. You can tell the quick ones from those I took some time on painting, but they were inspired by mushrooms in my yard and some from my various classes. I share them with my daughter as a distraction from winter blues. Which do you like?

Frogs

I’m enjoying CatCoq’s four week collection challenge. I’ve created the hero, a blender pattern, and a more detailed pattern so far incorporating my contour frogs since “Frogs” were a suggested trend in Cat’s well researched 2026 trend report. I love frogs and toads, and had the contour drawings in watercolor ready to go. I just needed the lily pads and dragonflies!

Country Retro Design Challenge

This Spoonflower Challenge is one of my favorites so far. I love gingham and the wheat gold color already created. I also had wildflowers ready to go. I opened them and recolored them into the blue denim for the challenge AND added the offbeat contour lines to all of them to create a cohesive style.

Country Retro Blues on Wheat Gold Checks

Spread a country checked tablecloth in colors of warm wheat and denim blue— retro florals of crocus and peony perfect for a prairie picnic— inside or out! Click an image to find on Spoonflower. I’m ordering the rectangular table cloth. I can hardly wait for the order to arrive. You can find this pattern in my Floral Delight collection.

And one little cardinal
