Shadow Wait

Daily Note

Every day, a photograph, a poem. Last weekend we hiked in the coulee at Banks Lake– a nice, flat walk for me. I snapped this picture of myself as a shadow with the great trees in the late afternoon winter sun.

I am a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars.

Desiderata

as are you, as we all are.

With the sun shining so brightly, I felt like I was like the trees, waiting for spring. And so, a poem.

Shadow Wait

I am a tree
of long shadows
in the winter setting sun
standing tall
and resting
in wait
for the burst
of hope:
the buds of spring
