Daily Note
Every day, a photograph, a poem. On our Sunday walk at Steamboat Rock State Park, we enjoy the spots of sun and shade on hot summer days.
We paused at places our family has enjoyed picnicking, swimming, boating, tubing— feeling the memories in vivid recollections at each stop. Ice cream runs, Changing places in the boat. Fishing, Sand castles. Floating in the lake. Swimming to the island. Cheery cousin chatter and chuckles. Joyful memories.
We dipped our toes into the water and ambled along the shore, enjoying the freezing water that soon felt soothing. Sun and shade, each we can choose. Sun after a dip in the lake, shade while walking in the heat of the afternoon. It’s a glorious place, a place where trees grace us with their magnificence and cooling shadows.
And so, a poem….

Sun and Shadows
Warm in the sun after a dip in the lake

Cool in the shadows as the sun bakes
Enjoy sun’s warmth and gift of green
Thank the trees for the shade’s reprieve.
