Daily Note
Every day, a photograph, a poem. I wonder how many homes have a huge corner in the kitchen between the sink and the refrigerator that’s the place to find a just the right drink for the moment in just the right cup, glass, or mug. That’s this corner— the coffee pot is to the left out of view and the cans of tea are just to the right. Above is a cupboard with glasses and covered coffee/tea cups. Across the way behind us is another cupboard with mugs and tall glasses. We’re a family that likes to stay hydrated.
In the picture are three of my favorite mugs, a gift from a friend. There were four, but one broke. Darn. Our mugs have personality, some even are for certain days, like Sunday morning. I’ll share that another day. These three are mood mugs. The one on the left, the floral one, is for days when I need some nature, a reminder to go outside, or a floral in winter to remember the summer. The one in the back is for balance— that I am or that I need to readjust. And, the plaid one is for chaos: when things need to calm, or that I’ve got the chaos under control. It just depends on life at that moment. Today, my husband brought that one to me with my decaffeinated coffee with cream, since I am not supposed to drink caffeine any more. So he’s ordered me special, delicious coffee along with his [ Scott Brother’s Coffee, try them ]. So my world is ordered once again.
And so, a poem….

something hot and bold
or green and calm,
something cold and iced
or fresh from the tap
a corner
in the kitchen
to stay hydrated.
