Daily Note
Every day, a photograph, a poem. In the hot afternoon, just a few moments in the gentle breeze off the water, standing ankle-deep in the lake’s coolness, we are relieved of the heat of the day. The sounds of laughter of swimmers, kids playing catch in the water, and floating on water devices remind me of so many summers at the beach, both as a child with cousins while our parents fished in Lake Audubon, ND, or with grandkids at Crescent Bay, Spring Canyon, or Banks Lake, WA.
Remember the time at Sun Banks on Banks Lake, when the storm came in and the waves roared over the shore? We had to hold the rope holding the boat to keep it from floating away. Not just hold the rope, we had to hang on the rope as the huge waves rolled in, lifting the boat and dropping it into the trough of the next wave. Whoa. That was a scary day until the storm subsided.
Memories of families and happiness that have lived through their time. Hold on to those memories to make them real again for those that follow: make you happiness, no matter the chaos our world brings.

Calm and cool

in the gentle breeze;
stand near the shore
ankle deep in soothing waters,
dappled sunshine,
mostly shade,
refreshing relief
on a hot summer
