My Friend’s Garden

Daily Note

Every day, a photograph, a poem. Just lovely, and a place to pause, this garden of my friend Barb, just down the street on our walk. Something new almost every week, a fairy, a new rock, a small wrought iron ornament, an elf, all adding to the meadow she’s created on her hillside. She’s moving away to be nearer her daughter, and someone new will take her place. Will she garden too? Will she let it remain a meadow filled with surprises? Or will she “organize” it, plan it out just so, in a row.

And so, a poem…

Poetry

My Friend’s Garden

Not a Mary
Not contrary
no pretty maids in a row
hues of green
pinks serene
amid rocks, not in a row
