Daily Note
Every day, a photograph, a poem. Another photo from on our way home from visiting with family before our smoke settled in. Our smoke at this moment is rated at 314, hazardous. It’s awful. So this photo popped up and it shows the beauty of our earth, should we take care of it— because it takes care of us. Unfortunately we are invaders of the the earth, changing its livable habitat into one that isn’t. Read about that here.
All along the Highway 2 by the Wenatchee River going over the Cascades, there are spots to pull over and picnic by the river. We also saw people floating on tubes in the quiet parts- the river is probably two low for white-water rafting right now.

We stopped at this spot to stretch our legs. Scott walked down to the river and splashed his face with the very cold water. A group of swimmers were jumping off rocks into the deeper parts where the water slowed. I stayed in the shade in the trees and snapped a few photos.
I loved the peace of this spot. Drivers and families on Highway 2 stopped, used the rest rooms, and hiked along the paths by the river. The tall trees shaded us from the warm weather, not too hot that day, and dragonflies darted by. Birds chirped in the trees, and I’m sure a bear or two watched us. But here we all were, peacefully enjoying what nature provided.
And so, a poem…
Poetry
Quiet Waters
Rivers turn and narrow
Sheri Edwards
Churning currents
Until the river widens
To slow and calm
To quiet waters,
Where we paused
Where we imagine
A world of peace,
But will it ever be?
