Daily Note
Every day, a photograph, a poem. Today, Scott drove me to the eye doctor in Davenport. As we drove away from home around the hillside I looked up to see a plop, plop, plop of clouds in row. I said, “Look: dragon cloud poop.”

We both laughed, remember the grandkids and the dragons of the Columbia River [read about the Water Dragons here]. So, of course, there must be cloud dragons.
And wouldn’t you know it. A few miles later, we saw the dragon!

I texted these pictures to granddaughter Allison when we returned home. She loved them, because she knows dragons– the water dragons and wrote a story about them:
A family story:
In the river of Columbia flowing through the land of Coulee in the country of Hunwardia hid a blue dragon, N’ha-aitk, sacred creature of the water.
The toads of her realm know her stories. Read them here:
N’ha-aitk
and his first bite of chocolate
N’ha-aitk, the sacred creature of the water, was worshiped by the ancient Civilizations.
N’ha-aitk still lives to this day but, back in 296bc, a small girl made an offering to the N’ha-aitk. It was chocolate.
When N’ha-aitk swallowed the chocolate, he was amazed by its wonderful taste!!! He started swimming in circles creating whirl pools and hopped up into the air and roared in a fit of joy!
The ancients misunderstood this for anger! So they fled the land. Still too overcome by the delicious taste N’ha-aitk laughed and roared in happiness, accidentally burning down the land.
When N’ha-aitk calmed, he noticed everyone was gone and he had literally destroyed everything in his selfish fit of joy. N’ha-aitk began to cry; he cried and cried, then cried some more! His tears filled the coulee into a beautiful river.
But poor N’ha-aitk felt so guilty that he slumped below the surface of the water and still lives in that river today.
If you dont believe me, look, the whirlpools from him swimming around are STILL THERE!!!
And appearently someone recently dropped some chocolate into the river and he accidentally ate it.Because, I think there is a fire currently near the river, and maybe N’ha-aitk was responsable?! We may never know.
But we do know one thing! KEEP YOUR CHOCOLATE AWAY FROM THE RIVER!!!

Granddaughter Allison [Now the mother of two of our great-grandchildren]
Grandkids are such a joy, and now we have great grandkids– I think both cloud and water dragons will be part of their lives too.
Now, what do Cloud Dragons do? Clear away the clouds, of course!
