Turkey Trot

Daily Note

Every day, a photograph, a poem. So funny. On my walk today through Cole Park I found the neighborhood turkeys silently pecking the newly mowed lawn. Usually they are strutting and stuttering as they walk along the boulevards, but here, they were stepping and pecking in silence.

So, a poem.

Poetry

Turkey Trot

step, peck
step, peck
one looks
all around

step, peck
step, peck
all turn
all around

wait—

left, right?
which way?
what’s that
on the ground?

step, peck
step, peck
turkey trot
not even a sound.
