Daily Note

Every day, a photograph, a poem. Autumn leaves change colors in late September and fall on the history of the town, revealed in the rock stairs in Cole Park perhaps built in the 30s by the Civil Conservation Corps, with Douglas Park. The steps lead to the swimming pool the town council closed years ago. This year, they chopped down 34 90-year old maple trees to keep a neat sidewalk. Years ago, the leaders had vision– and built the town with parks and carefully laid out streets lined trees for their beauty and shade. It’s time for younger people to lead– to make decisions for the people and the children with a vision for a rock solid future with valuable assets for everyone, like these solid rock stairs represent.

Stacking Stairs

rock stairs
stacked almost
a century ago
a step up
to history
of a town
keeping its past
while growing
into its future
needing younger voices
to step up
into unknowns
for the children
not yet here
so their town
is stacked
with stairs
remembered
for solving
their unknowns.
