Slow, cold rain

Daily Note

Every day, a photograph, a poem. I was supposed to drive to Davenport today to pick up my new glasses, but that highway is slushy with the first snowfall. I think I’ll wait until tomorrow when the rain and snow are supposed to stop.

The plant in today’s photo is rescued from outside because the mule deer are eating it– hours after I purchased it for it’s lovely fall colors.

This day is grey, cold, wet, with what seems like a steady, slow rain here in the Coulee– rain that wants to be snow. And in my photo memories is a picture of our yard in spring– with blooming crab apple, apple, and pear trees. I’m already looking forward to those days.

And so, a poem…

Poetry

Looking Forward

Outside, dark, slushy
drip, drip, drip of slow, cold rain:
sigh; remember spring.
