Autumn Drive

Main road in Odessa, WA Benches in front of store fronts empty, but inviting on a Sunday afternoon in October

Daily Note

Every day, a photograph, a poem. In early October we found ourselves driving through eastern Washington. One of our favorite things to do is stop in small towns and walk through the main street. Today, that small town is Odessa, WA where the third full weekend in September one might find oneself enjoying the harvest celebration of Deutschesfest. But today, the streets are empty, the shops are closed, and the street silent. In front of many shops are benches, and on this sunny October afternoon, despite the lack of commerce, those benches invited passersby to stop and enjoy small town life.

Enjoy:

And so a poem…

Autumn Drive

Sunday autumn drive;
afternoon: small town main street,
empty benches wait.
