Daily Note
Every day, a photograph, a poem.
I found a three today on my walk, made by broken twigs. Three what? I snapped a photo for today’s poem.
Next thing I know, the dog is rolling. Rolling in poop. A total three point roll: on the back, legs in the air, twisting away roll. What can you do? Ugh. And no, the point three roll is not my poem.
I texted Scott: “Oh my god. Guthrie needs a bath.” That way, he’ll be prepared.
I did three things: Take the paper towels out of the van; Soak a few at a time in a puddle of mostly clear water; wipe and wipe and wipe the dog, who just sits there, looking at me with that look: What? And no, that is also not my poem.
The thing about golden doodles is, they don’t take to negative reinforcement: it’s all about positive reinforcement. So I did not yell or get angry. You can’t with Guthrie. He’s such a sweet dog, and, as I’ve said before: D Dog. D Delightful. D Disgusting. You gotta take all three. I mean: look at what a good dog he is:

And no, the “Ds” are also not my poem.
Three what, then? And now, the poem… because it’s important to be present and notice even small things in new ways.

Three What?
I found a three today:
Sheri Edwards
Three what? I thought.
~Wake up to smile at the sun
whether it’s shining or not;
~Take a walk in nature
whether it’s a minute or a lot;
~Make someone’s day
whether by smile or simple nod;
Find your three today:
What’s your three thought?
