Day 1 Adventure with D

Challenge

I joined the Delores Naskrent Artistic Evolution Challenge. It’s for a week. I may be able to keep up. This is Day 1.

Gather things in nature and arrange into a pattern. Photograph and create a repeating pattern. You can see mine above.

Then we applied different strategies such as changing hues, blend modes, etc. I created several versions and created a video of them, which you can view here.

It’s a steady, snowy day today so I used dried flowers and leaves in a vase that I had on my desk, and the pine cone saved for Christmas.

Reflection

I incorporated the theme into my artwork with a plan to use the leaves and pine cones in some way. The shadows and view of the pinecone made interesting illusions with different blend modes. I think it’s important to study shadows and how they change as well as form and fade out.

Because the colors of browns and yellows were similar, it helped with creating the different versions because the hues of the items reacted similarly to different blend modes and hue changes.
