Challenge
I joined the Delores Naskrent Artistic Evolution Challenge. It’s for a week. I may be able to keep up. This is Day 2.
Tear paper / magazine into strips/rectangles to arrange. Adjust colors and contrasts; rearrange to a pattern.
I decided to try the rainbow outline strategy and created this:

I then played around with hue, saturation, brightness just a bit but moved into the enhancement tools in Procreate, applying gradient map, noise, glitch, halftone, and chromatic aberration tools.
I labeled the layers with the enhancement tool name to help me learn how the effects work.

Next I dragged all the layers into a new document of the same size to create the video with Procreate’s animation assist. You can view here. Here’s the small web version:
Viewing the video helps me remember the look of the effects quickly. It’s very helpful.
Reflection
The most important things I learned today are that play and experimentation are important to develop a project and to consider variations of style. It’s a learning experience that develops artistic skills. I found the noise, halftone, and chromatic aberration to be most like a style I might try. When I create art with line work, the chromatic aberration might add an effect that enhances the artwork. Also, I did not try motion blue, so that’s something to play with.
Play. Experiment. Learn. #artisticevolutionchallenge #warmup4art
