Artistic Evolution Challenge
I joined the Delores Naskrent Artistic Evolution Challenge. It’s for a week. I may be able to keep up. This is Day 4.
Today we cut up geometric shapes, arranged them into a 10 x 10 inch square to photograph and place in our software, in my case, Procreate. Then we did more manipulation, added color with gradient maps, used the cloning tool to create a repeat pattern, and then applied the pattern in an art piece.
Here’s my start and finish pieces:

And, here’s a video of the different stages in between:
Reflection
If I had been a quilter, I think I would have created a better design with my shapes. I could have created a quilt type pattern in the cut out stages. But, that’s how we learn.
It’s also important to use copyright free images, so this has been totally just for practice, although the aspen leaves and rock wall are my own work.
I can tell you that art is not easy– design is not easy. Playing and experimenting with others around to share examples and help with ideas while experts / professionals offer tutorials is what helps us improve.
It’s lessons like this that both remind me that I have much to learn and that I am learning, and that’s OK.
So if you ever get feeling down with your art or hobby, remember: we are all growing at learning at our own pace.
