Daily Note
Every day, a photograph, a poem. Here’s a spot at North Dam where we walk Guthrie– he’s always interested in what’s under this tree and I’m pretty sure it’s disgusting. Luckily, when I say “No” or “Icky-Poo,” he immediately stops his “deep sniffing!”
I decided to take a picture of this tree in each season. I know it’s not too healthy because I’ve been by it many times over the years. And, as always, I remember its shade in the heat of the summer. Even though it’s winter, it’s grand branches reaching tall remind me of what I am thankful for from this tree’s just being. And so that’s the poem for today– a winter tree as remembered from summer.

Once a Seed
From a small seed

I grew
Where summer’s heat
beats down
I stretch my arms
for shade
I am old, yet still I
cool you.
