Daily Note
Every day, a photograph, a poem. Yesterday’s poem [Before the Storm] was about before the storm. The photo is the same day. If you walk down this path, past the building and past the row of poplar trees, you’d be standing in the same place. Those trees behind the building are casting the shadows in that photo.
Steamboat Rock State Park is a great place to visit, boat, swim, camp, hike, etc. It’s one of several spots our blended family has gathered over the years.
We won’t be going to this spot much anymore because dogs must be on a leash — it’s not a dog park, although dogs are allowed. There are other places to walk around the lake, including a favorite spot with a cottonwood tree [Cottonwood], where few people go and we can allow the dog to run beside and around us.
Today, we’re still in snowy weather, but on our walk today we saw and heard a small flock of chickadees flying in the bushes where we walked Guthrie. And I know that when the sun shines brightly in winter, the chickadee do call us to come and play too. And so, a poem.

Winter Chatter
Chickadees scatter
calling us with chatter
“Time to walk!
Time to talk!
Beneath the blue sky-
Come outside!
See bright tree spines!
Enjoy winter sunshine!”Sheri Edwards
