Daily Note
Every day, a photograph, a poem.
Today was a day to honor the passing of the patriarch of my daughter’s family on her mother’s side. We’re a blended family, so in reality, she’s Scott’s daughter, but we’ve always considered our blended family of kids “ours.”
Heather is an artist of floral arrangements. Sometimes one room of her home looks like a florists shop because she’s making the bouquets and arrangements for weddings, memorials, showers, etc. She provided the florals for her grandfather’s memorial funeral.
And, at the end of the day, in the back of her pick-up, the leftover flowers still bloomed. So she built a bouquet for me. The photo is part of the arrangement, a close-up of a just one section of the beautiful bouquet. She is truly an artist when it comes to floral arrangements. She keeps “recipes,” little sketches of arrangements into which she can chose flowers and greenery for size, shape, color, and purpose. It’s quite wonderful to think of these recipes as sketches that will lead to the beautiful arrangements.
And so, a poem…
