Welcome!
On most Wednesdays, check this blog for a strategy, process, or reflection for illustration with the iPad app ProCreate. This Wednesday Wrap Up shares an art process learned from Amy Maricle for prompts from Jennifer Nichols of Leila and Po Studios.
Inspiration
Amy Maricle started a Mindful Art “Simplest Thing” challenge and I, again, followed the process, in Procreate to complete the monthly prompts from Jennfier Nichols’ monthly prompts: February: Stay Warm.
My Process
Amy’s mindful process is: create lines, brush color, add squiggly lines, make a collage. You can see the first three in the top image, along with the brushes and palette I used [plus white / black]. The brushes were from Jennifer’s Jen’s Doodles free set provided in her Creative Journey Community, of which I am an affiliate. I also used Lisa Bardot’s Texture Press Fine in her Texture Maker’s collection.
I used the Sketchbook Doodle template from Jennifer as the background for these doodles.
The lines created the beverage mugs for Jennifer’s prompts. Next I filled in the lines with color. Squiggly lines then formed multi-frames around the beverages. Then I saved a PNG of the just the mugs and text so I could separate and rearrange them into a collage, the final part of the mindful doodling.

Take a look at Amy Maricle‘s and Jennifer Nichol’s work and follow them for more inspiration. Join their communities, newsletters, or courses. I am thankful for finding them to learn more art that is friendly and relaxing to do. You can too!
And you’re welcome to follow this blog for art inspiration. We can share with #warmup4art to enjoy our work together! I look forward to your sharing and find me at @42Sheri, on Mastodon Sheri42, on Flickr teach.eagle Sheri 42.
