Sun and Shadow

hail in the shade after a sudden storm

Daily Note

Every day, a photograph, a poem. Yesterday morning we chatted a breakfast with spirits uplifted by the sun shining into the window for a change– a warming of the room and the soul. But then, we looked suddenly as a shadow darkened the room, and a moment later the sound of hail pelting the roof signaled the sudden storm. It lasted only a few minutes, but still the sun dimmed for the day. And later on my afternoon walk, I found remnants of the hail agains the rock wall where it is always in shade. I was glad the hail was small with no damage to anything, except to our delight at the sun shining.

Poetry

Sun and Shadow

Sunshine lifts morning
chatter; a shadow darkens
the room; we turn to look
as small pellets pound the roof
a sudden hail storm swirls past
