Daily Note
Every day, a photograph, a poem. Today, a squirrel crossed the street in front of Guthrie and me on our daily walk. It paused in the street, watching Guthrie, not moving at all until we walked within fifteen feet of it. Then it scurried into a bush– I could see its fluffy tail flick as it scampered up the old power pole in front of the weeping birch, still in its winter clothes. Safely up the power pole, the fat little squirrel paused again to watch the dog, ears perked listening, eyes huge watching until we passed by.
I know they are a nuisance, but I like squirrels. We used to feed them when I was a child; they lived in the trees across the street and would come out to get sunflower seeds from our hands. Just like the little chipmunks at the lake. They both have such cute little hands. I know, they are not cute all the time.
Speaking of Squirrels… Siri
But speaking of squirrels, the Siri in my phone went a little squirrelly the other day…
Trying to connect my AirPod max to Apple TV, I mumbled to myself while fiddling with the remote, “I don’t know how to…” and Siri popped up and sighed, “I figured as much. “
I laughed, but was surprised. I don’t really use Siri, like Scott and Allison do all the time. So to have her jump in and give me an comment as a little aside, that was surprising and funny. LOL.

of a fat little squirrel
Pauses to watch
the dog on the trail
Scampers up
the power pole
turns to look
perks ears to hear
Waiting, still,
While the dog is near.
