Our Ragamuffin

Guthrie dug out a place on the hillside, a little dam and in the shade to cool off

Daily Note

Every day, a photograph, a poem. Spring is here. The weather is a perfect 70° F, and that seems to be too hot for Guthrie. We’ll need to get him in to the groomer for a shorter hairdo. His hair grows fast and he loves to roll, so he’s our little [big] ragamuffin.

He found himself a shady spot, dug out the side of the hill to the damp dirt, and huddled himself right into the coolness. The dog knows how to care for himself!

Poetry

Our Ragamuffin

When you’re furry
and a roller,
a ragamuffin
mischief sower,
running here
and over there
in warm spring
the fur you wear
wears you down
slows your pace
so you find the shade—
dig out the place—
dig down to cool,
the damp of dirt
your huddle in,
cooling off a bit.
