Getting Ready for Safari
Welcome!
On most Wednesdays, check this blog for a strategy, process, or reflection for illustration with the iPad app ProCreate. This Wednesday Wrap Up shares my second day for Getting ready for Safari: giraffes for Shannon Mcnab’s 3×3 Sketch-Design-Repeat Challenge
I’m trying to keep with the fun style of the Hippo for a pattern for the challenge. I played all day creating another style, but the two above won out. The others were cute, but muted, and not quite as fun as the above illustrations. Here’s the first try,

I mostly used Lisa Bardot brush sets [textures, imperfect patterns, bonus brushes]. The funny spots on the second set are a Procreate brush called Aurora. I spaced out the shape a bit. I like the brush because it is set with color dynamics to change the hues slightly with each tap of the brush. Lisa’s brushes allow me to quickly splash in fill of different patterns and different shading brushes. She also has several brushes for different line work. I find them easy to use and for this type of art, they are my go to sets.
Try It
So are you ready for the challenge? A prompt each Friday for three weeks with inspiration tips and suggested palettes. You’ll have three designs ready for your portfolio. Check it out!

About Last Week…
And just a bit about last week. Our dog found Scott’s inhaler to chew. That’s an emergency and we had to take him two hours away for an overnight stay with a vet clinic that stays open 24 hours. Luckily, he didn’t puncture the can and he’s OK. But, that’s why I missed last week’s Wrap Up. We love our pets, right?
