Daily Note
Every day, a photograph, a poem.
Aren’t the cherry blossoms lovely? I’m still waiting for the blossoms of our neighborhood to open up, so I found this photo from April 3, 2021 of the cherry tree by the credit union on our daily walk [before Guthrie].
On the National Mall, the cherry blossoms will be blooming– and it almost always makes some national news story with a photo of their beauty. And then there’s the history of the women who planted the trees. The National Park Service cares for the many varieties of cherry trees that create the beautiful canopy.
An important part of the story, and one you might consider when choosing trees to plant, is that of helping pollinators, which cherry trees do.

I snapped this photo on May 1, 2022, so I guess we’re months behind those in Washington, DC. You can see that some are missing. The beauty and importance of trees are blessings some people don’t know when they chop them down. I’m hoping the city will replace them.
I wonder how many people understand the benefits of urban forestry?
The Yale Climate Connections website shares the benefits to health and to reducing the effects of climate change based on their studies.
The Nature Conservancy created an advertisement brochure on the benefits of trees.
So, I continue to enjoy and photograph the many trees I pass on my daily walk and encourage others to discover their importance.
And so a poem…
