Daily Note
Every day, a photograph, a poem.
I was so delighted yesterday when stepping out of the front door to walk Guthrie. Just to the left of the small front porch, my peony and day lilies were growing, still. The mule deer eat everything. They roam through the town and just enjoy the feast we homeowners plant for them, to our dismay.
So I was so excited the plants were still growing, although a few of the day lilies look munched on. Guthrie just is not a guard dog. He loves everyone, even the deer.
He only barks if he’s in the living room and someone walks by or the mail person drops the mail into the box. One loud bark, and he moves away from the front door, which he’s decided is his home base. Just one loud bark, which always surprises me and I join in with my own short little scream.
So, fingers crossed, the mule deer stay away.
And so a poem….
