Welcome
On most Wednesdays, check this blog for a strategy, process, or reflection for illustration with the iPad app ProCreate. This Wednesday Wrap Up shares my new cards and the lessons that inspired them.
Earth Day Cards

I had written a poem and info about Earth Day. I also created a greeting card with a strategy taught by Jennifer Nichol’s gouache lesson as I used Liz Kohler Brown’s Realistic Gouache brushes: the post: Earth Day 2024. This week I received my order from Zazzle in card [top] and postcard [above]. I love the sturdiness of both card and postcard– quality paper and delicious color. I’m very pleased!
You can find the greeting card and postcard on Zazzle. Inside the cards say: “Every day is Earth Day. Enjoy and protect its beauty.”
Inspiration: I am thankful for the following artists for tutorials and lessons in their communities and books.

Hydrangea and Petunia

Last week I shared the lilacs, so delightfully fragrant and beautiful in my yard which inspired me to take the Calvin the Drifter of Drifter Studio watercolor lilacs tutorial in his Let’s Paint Watercolor Lilacs YouTube video. I decided to take two other classes; watercolor floral and hydrangea. Check out his Calvin at DrifterStudio YouTube Channel for excellent Procreate tutorials and links to his wonderful brushes and paper texture canvases.
The watercolor petunia I painted as a card for my daughter tomorrow. I changed the leaves and added a sepal because of the shape of the petals I had painted.
The hydrangea will be for a granddaughter later this month, but I also added a card to Zazzle and Card Isle. I chose a teal color and adjusted my water in the glass jar vase a different way, added shading on the leaves, and added a teal ribbon around the jar beneath the flower. It’s a Thinking of You card.
Bunnies For Kids Cards

I also started the Sketchbook Seeds: Spring class by Stephanie Fizer Coleman, which closes Friday, May 3. The course is part of her community [ with free and paid parts] — The Artist’s Greenhouse.
The first free lesson inspired a pattern and a card, a “Hoppy Day” kids card I uploaded to Zazzle and Card Isle.
This was perfect for a kids Spoonflower collection , Bunnies, Bears, and Berries, I’ll write about the collection later; it was inspired by request from a Spoonflower customer, but here’s a peak of the hero illustration.
