Welcome
Today’s WrapUp is about my progress on various projects: Seeds, Watercolor, and Portrait Party.
Seeds
I’m working through Stephanie Kiser Coleman’s Spring Seeds class. She’s working in gouache; I’m working in digital gouache in Procreate and watercolor. My gouache brushes are Realistic Gouache brush set by Liz Kohler Brown.
- Sketchbook Seeds: Spring class by Stephanie Fizer Coleman, which closed Friday, May 3. The course is part of her community [ with free and paid parts] — The Artist’s Greenhouse.

Progress
Today I walked through part of the Daffodil lesson. After a contour sketch, I basically adopted a process from Sandra Mejia’s watercolor class [see next section]. I finished the daffodils digitally by painting the base color, alpha locking and clipping layers to add the gouache brush strokes that best fit the need for the style of stroke needed. I may do another set and a traditional watercolor after I finish watching the lesson.

Watercolor
I thoroughly enjoyed the process and techniques from Sandra Mejia’s Watercolor Botanical Illustrations on Skillshare: Easy Procreate Watercolors – Create Botanical Illustrations on your iPad by Sandra Mejia. She provides the canvas starts to help learn her process so the class is well-resourced for success for even beginner students. Part of my project [ see my project here] became a retirement card for a friend– see the top image on the post.
Once we created the motifs by painting a base, alpha locking it, and adding the watercolor brush strokes, we created a composition from the motifs. She provided a sketch to follow, but I created my own:

I also created the initial floral arrangement for V for my friend Virginia which I used to create her card.

I’m very pleased with the results, and the style fits with other lessons and techniques. Combining them adds to my skills.
Portrait Party
Charly Clements is once again sharing a “Fun with Faces” challenge she now calls “Portrait Party.” Draw portraits every day for a week, each day with three items to include. Tag with #portraitparty & #charlyclements and tag @charlyclements .
Yesterday’s post: Day 1 and 2 and today’s Day 3. I should have added a bit of lighting and shadows on my white-haired lady.
I’ve enrolled in Charly’s Out of This World Portrait Class and I’ve taken other of her classes on Skillshare [Fun with Faces and Fun with Figures], so I know the style and I love practicing to get better.
Check out the IG post and join the fun!

Still Working on…
I’ve still working on my style, the rabbit projects, the coffee mugs and pots, the Greeting Cards on Zazzle, and the coordinates for Bunnies, Bears, and Berries Collection on Spoonflower I sold my first yard today!

Try It
As you can see, I’m always busy. Art is now my passion, and I take lessons, practice, and combine strategies into my own projects. I am thankful that the technology we have allows for online lessons that are wonderful tutorials for learning. I’m thankful for my teachers.
We’re all on a learning journey and are in different places. If you’ve got a little hope to become an artist, just start. It’s the journey that matters. There are lots of people to support you!
You’re welcome to follow this blog for art inspiration. We can share with #warmup4art to enjoy our work together! I look forward to your sharing and find me at @42Sheri, on Mastodon Sheri42, on Flickr teach.eagle Sheri 42.
