A Little Note

The Photo:

purple iris in Cole Park — Iris pallida ‘Variegata’

The Thought:

I noticed the variegated leaves of these flowers throughout the winter. How wonderful that these are partially evergreen, delighting the world throughout the year, and especially in May. They are drought resistant and rabbit and deer leave them be. They are one of my favorite flowers. [How To Grow]

I was surprised to learn that these beauties are native of the Dalmatia area of Croatia. Every where in the world are amazing people, plants, and animals. We are one people, one planet. It’s too bad the negative aspects of human nature divide us instead of bringing us all together.

Dressed in Elegance

A gentle bow to the wind
A long look to the sun
Iris blushes in purple blues
Dressed in frilly elegance.
