Inspiration
Every week in CatCoq’s newsletter, she suggests a challenge. Last week it was to draw a monstera leaf, encouraging us to get creative with colors. She provides a blog post for drawing monstera in Procreate: Textured Monstera. I took the plunge yesterday [Monstera Challenge], Monday, and am adding a toucan today, which I decided yesterday. I also created an anniversary card for our daughter for tomorrow.
The Art
I followed the same process as yesterday with the same brushes, creating two versions of the toucan. Then I added them into the monstera pattern.
And then I decided the pattern would fit for an anniversary card, which I’ll text to Heather and Travis tomorrow.
The Lesson
I’m always amazed that just a big of color adds so much to an illustration. And that a few motifs can be pulled together for a pattern, which can be used for cards. An afternoon of fun for me and a bit of joy to the recipient.
