A Little Note

The Thought:

How fortunate we are to live in a migration zone for so many water birds that land in Banks Lake on their way to and from their winter homes and summer breeding grounds.

We see pelicans, swans, cranes, cormorants, and more.

Yesterday, we were blessed with a pod of pelicans, sunning themselves. They easily overheat, so flying to the far north in Canada for summer is a must, I think.

These birds cooperate to rush fish towards the shallows for easier catching; they are also great thieves, stealing fish from one another.

Rest for the Day

a long lake
a sunny day
shining water
and on the way

flying north
from far away
a pod of pelicans
rest for the day
