Portraits with Charly Refining

Today I continued my Out of This World Portraits class with Charly Clements. 

I chose the prompt: sunshine, curly hair, rosy cheeks and sketched several in different poses and some repeating to refine:

Next steps included trying and learning different color palettes:

I also checked the values relationships of the colors by adding a layer of black set to saturation mode. Some people apply hue or color modes; they all work:

And, before adding color to the sketch, I refined the sketch again:

Tomorrow is the Fourth of July. I hope to spend some time adding color to my refined sketch. The goal is to try two versions.
