Portrait Final

Today I finished my Out of This World Portraits class with Charly Clements.

I chose the prompt: sunshine, curly hair, rosy cheeks. While following the process of Charly’s course, I learned:

Color theory and creating palettes
Choosing brushes
Drawing front, side, 3/4 views
Ways to draw noses and lips
Sketching versions of the chosen prompt
Creating Backgrounds
Choosing skin tones and colors that match
Refining the sketch
Trying color variations for the chosen sketch
Blocking colors
Adding details
Adding textures and filters
Making a signature brush

As you can see, the course is packed full of techniques for creating portraits that pop. My favorite parts were the side and 3/4 lessons and the nose and lips process. See my previous progress here: Out of this World Portraits.

Yesterday’s Color Variations

I really like purple, yellow, and teal so I tried a few variations with different hues. And I chose the 3/4 view, which I would normally not try, but now I have the technique for drawing as taught by Charly to get the position correct.

Here’s the final with no filters added:

The featured image at the top has a bit of “noise” and “chromatic aberration” added. Just a touch, about 6%.
