Today I chose this prompt and watched the video “Nature” by Lisa from the time when COVID just started. Lisa started encouraging people to stay home and draw with tutorials like this one. How to Draw a Nature Scene.
Brushes: Lisa uses her Gouache Paintbox. I used her Gouache Paintbox and Imperfect Patterns.
I started with a sketch to fit the prompt, and then followed Lisa’s tutorial. I usually keep things on separate layers and use clipping masks rather than alpha lock. My plan is to also make it into a badge, so I kept it all very simple and stylized so I could use basic shapes and the new Patch and Stitch Brush Set.
The Gouache Paintbox is filled with brushes that mimic a gouache style. There’s smooth, streaked, dry, grainy. Very fun.
The Imperfect Patterns are fun to add textured detailed through pattern brushes. It’s one of my favorite sets.
As I look at this, I see I didn’t finish the sun. I meant to add rays. LOL. This still works.
