Inspiration
I follow and receive newsletters from Jennifer Nichols, Bekki Flaherty, and Cat Coq, along with several others. Cat Coq has an art challenge this month to create a mini-holiday collection since most crafters and agents purchase holiday art now.
I like to have holiday art in my shops so I thought I this would be a great idea. I chose my palette and wanted to include cute birds in the theme.

But then Bekki Flaherty’s newsletter prompted me to take two of her tutorials: Trailing Pattern 2 and Geometric Stripes. I wrote about those projects here: Evergreen Florals and Magic Stripes. I finished the magic stripes in this palette today, which you can see in the mockup above and below along with the projects from those posts:

And today I participated in Jennifer Nichol’s Creative Journey community [affiliate link] where she provided a Live Lesson on Zoom for us to learn the diamond pattern with poppies. I applied the same palette for that illustration. I chose to revise my first try and created a second diamond pattern so I wouldn’t have a diagonal line of poppies in the final pattern. I also placed the pattern into Jenn’s “soft noise” canvas she provided for us.

Pattern Tear Sheet for Evergreen Florals
So now I have several patterns that include motifs for flowers and greenery as I move to working on the “bird” part of my collection.

Thank you
Thanks to Jennifer Nichols, Bekki Flaherty, and Cat Coq, I am inspired to create different styles and motifs that may eventually be part of a collection for uploading to the POD [Print On Demand] shops. Please check them out for their free lessons or sign up for their tutorials or communities. You will be grateful for the learning.
