Inspiration
This week is the end of Summer Camp at BardotBrush. Today we followed a tutorial on friendship bracelets with Lisa Bardot, adding in our own bits and beads of our own color and style. I like my artist’s palette and star. They’re pretty fun and several people really took off with the prompt, making some great slogans on their bracelets. So there are lots of opportunities for creativity with these bracelets.
Friends
Two of my friends have birthdays in the next two days, so I took time off from my bird adventures to create two illustrations for them. One thing I like about Lisa Bardot’s brushes is that they come with guides that include tutorials and info about how the brushes work– beautifully illustrated with step by step directions. So I opened the guide for the Watercolor Wonder brushes and chose two tutorial chapters.
The first I tried is lavender, which became my friend Lorie’s card:

Then I tried the apple tutorial for Ellen, but I did not really like the way it turned out — not quite what I was looking for for a card. But I do like the apple– I just need to practice more. Another thing for my list.
As I look at it, I could have painted it again, and added another slice and some seeds and leaves to add more interest. I just might do that.

So for Ellen, I repurposed a watercolor bouquet from a Lisa class. That is part of our community, but you can get the idea from this Paint a Watercolor Flower YouTube video. This was one of my favorite classes.

From friendship bracelets to cards for friends, this was a relaxing and productive day.
