Cozy Bluebird

Inspiration

As I said previously, I am illustrating a few cozy holiday birds for my hero art for the July CatCog challenge  [@CatCoq everywhere] . Yes, I’m behind. However, I’ve spent a bit again today watching Liz Kohler Brown tutorials in Affinity Designer and started the little blue bird dressed in Santa and Elf styles.

I’m using the same palette, and adding a bit from the procreate cozies I made last year in Procreate, changing them up as I work in Affinity Designer. Gradients are getting easier and I’ve got clipping masks down too. The pen tool is now a snap. I love the precise placement in each element an on the page that can be achieved in Affinity Designer.

Can’t you just see him peeking over some berries in a tree? I think I need one more bird and I’ll be good to go to designing my hero art piece.
