SCR Monochrome Florals

Inspiration

I’m still watching classes from  Peggy Dean’s Summer Creative Retreat, because I purchased the “Permanent Vacation Pass” Today I watched One Color Magic: Loose Watercolor Florals with Nikki Hess of Lavender And Sea, a lesson in monochrome with watercolor.

My Project

I chose this class because my daughter’s birthday is coming up on Tuesday and her favorite color is blue [and so is mine]. I again pulled up Lisa Bardot’s Watercolor Wonders brush set for Procreate so I could follow along on the iPad. Lisa’s documentation with her brush sets help guide their use to choose the right brush for the expectations. In this case, Nikki wanted us to learn about varying the water in the brush to create softer and lighter or harder and darker strokes to add interest to the hues of blue in this monochrome floral.

After painting the florals, I added a layer of watercolor paper in two layers [multiply and color burn]. Then I added a white rectangle, masked it to add in some of the floral elements beneath so I could add text for Stacy’s birthday card.
