Reborn Cottage

Inspiration

Remember the Cute Cottage I wrote about from the Peggy Dean’s Summer Creative Retreat? I had a chance to practice inking a line drawing again today.

An inspirational educator, Kevin Honeycutt, shared a photo of an abandoned house on Facebook and Instagram. On Facebook, comments shared how seeing those old abandoned homes along the roadside and even the old family portraits in antique stores makes one wonder about what happened to the families, to break their stories and leave the remnants for us to consider.

My Project

I always wonder too — how the old photos and the old homes, like this one, have gotten lost from their people. So, today, I decided to help the home be reborn, and on my iPad in Procreate, I inked it’s past life.

I drew with Jennifer Nichol’s Micron-like Pen with Pressure which works just like a micron pen with a brush tip. [Jennifer Nichols / affiliate link]

I imagined a small family living in the country surrounded by wheat fields and wooded areas around a small creek where they built a lovely home in the natural landscape.

Let your own imagination think of the possible and positive stories these walls tell.

Thanks, Kevin, for the inspiration for art today. And if you are in education, you might want to check out Kevin’s inspirational presentations on YouTube.
