Prompt: Inspiration

Save our public lands and our national parks. Keep our waterways and food safe.

Inspiration to stop the steal of taxpayer dollars used for Congressionally funded and approved programs that bring us the programs we depend on for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

The photo is of the Columbia River near a US Bureau of Reclamation trail to monitor shoreline stability and provide a spot for the public to walk and enjoy nature. The Columbia River waterways provide irrigation to millions of acres of farmland and power for the NorthWest. It’s surrounded by scenic areas and even national parks, like Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area.

Protect our public lands and waterways; keep the mission– in the interest of the American public:

“The mission of the Bureau of Reclamation is to manage, develop, and protect water and related resources in an environmentally and economically sound manner in the interest of the American public.”

“Today, we are the largest wholesaler of water in the country. We bring water to more than 31 million people, and provide one out of five Western farmers (140,000) with irrigation water for 10 million acres of farmland that produce 60% of the nation’s vegetables and 25% of its fruits and nuts.

Reclamation is also the second largest producer of hydroelectric power in the United States. Our 53 power plants annually provide more than 40 billion kilowatt hours generating nearly a billion dollars in power revenues and produce enough electricity to serve 3.5 million homes.”

About The Challenge

Flickr’s 21st Birthday Photo Challenge Today’s prompt: Joy

Flickr turns twenty-one this year and I’ve been a member since 2009, for sixteen years. I love Flickr — sharing, albums, descriptions, groups, license choices. It’s a great way to connect and share with others– and stay in charge of your own work.

So, I’ve decided to join the birthday challenge, which follows these prompts. I’ll add a note about the photo in each description. See the Flickr 21 Birthday Challenge Group pool here.

I’ve added these photos to a new album, Challenge Photography, which will hold any photos I take for different challenges. When you click the tag for the challenge #flickr21challenge, you’ll see a list of your own submissions, recently tagged photos, and then all the photos with the tag.

Come along, join the fun!
