It’s true; we always wonder, “Is he really a dog?” Neither of us has ever known a dog that doesn’t fetch. This golden-doodle, so sweet, lazy, and patient, just looks at us when we throw a ball, frisbee or stick. He’s part golden retriever, but he knows not how to retrieve!

He does TAKE, however. He’ll take a frisbee or a stick or a ball if it’s rolling by and run with it– away from us. It’s ridiculous!

Here he is with the stalk of a mullein plant that he’s delightedly taken from my hand to run and shake and eat. Such a silly dog.

Not Sure He’s a Dog

We’re not sure we have dog;
Throw a ball, throw a stick,
And he stands looking at you,
wondering what to do.

But hold out a stick
And he’ll gladly grab it—
gingerly grasping it with his snout
And running, proudly, shaking it about.
