Welcome!
On most Wednesdays, check this blog for a strategy, process, or reflection for illustration with the iPad app ProCreate or Affinity Designer. This week my art and photography included 100 day project, Spoonflower challenges, a Procreate Party with Peggy Dean, and poetry/photography.
Poetry/ Photography

Every day in April, I write a poem for National Poetry Writing Month [NaPoWriMo]. You can see all my poems here: The Daily: Poetry
Speaking of Birds….

I’m up to Day 55 of The 100 Day Project from Lindsay Jean Thomson, who has a website, IG, and podcast. The hashtag is #the100dayproject.
The goal is to make a plan for drawing every day for 100 days– five to ten minutes. That seems doable, doesn’t it?
I’ve already completed 20 rabbits here in the Bunnies and Bears post. I share all 20 of the bears here. And now I’m working on 20 birds, as you can see in the illustrations above for this week and the first ten:

I really like the marsh wren, which we see and listen to on Banks Lake. Here’s the marsh wren on a windy day on the lake.

Procreate Party

Peggy Dean’s Procreate Party from The Pigeon Letters is inspirational! I’m still working through the classes. I did finish the Cute Animals class [above] with Peggy, and I’m working on the Illustrating Human Characters with the Artmother and making pattern brushes with Jennifer Nichols:

I finished the Pattern Play with Stylized Flowers with Peggy Dean:

Be sure to check out The Pigeon Letters website so you know when the next Procreate Party is!
Design Challenge
Spoonflower has a Pet Doodle challenge coming up next. I try to get a few ideas started before I decide. I just signed up for Peggy Dean’s Color Class to help with choosing colors. Peggy’s right: some of us have trouble choosing colors. That’s me. I remember while teaching middle school how amazed I was at my student’s color choices; it seemed so easy for them to just pull out the colors for their projects, and they just added so much to the POP of information. But that little talent eludes me. So, I’m willing to try Peggy’s suggestions.
First ideas for Pet Doodles. I do love the diamond pattern. I seem to choose that often.

Thanks for stopping by!
It’s been a busy week for writing, drawing, and patterns!
I’ve enjoyed the 55 days of drawing bunnies, bears, and birds. I find myself exploring different media when I decide to finish a drawing based on a sketch. I do love watercolor and gouache, but chalk and pastel or smooth and fun. Then again, sketch and fill, then add texture and lines sometimes is the best. How do you decide? What do you think through to decide how to finish an illustration? Well, if you have any questions about my process, just ask! I’d be glad to help with what I know. Find time to make art every day!
You can find many helpful artists teachers on my Artist Resources page. Take a look at their IG and YouTube. Find one that fits your learning and art preferences and stick with them a while to develop your skills. Every day, another aha!
You’re welcome to follow this blog for art inspiration. We can share with #warmup4art to enjoy our work together! I look forward to your sharing and find me at @42Sheri, on Mastodon Sheri42, on Flickr teach.eagle Sheri 42.
