Wednesday WrapUp Toile, Cats, Democracy

Welcome!

On most Wednesdays, check this blog for a strategy, process, or reflection for illustration with the iPad app ProCreate or Affinity Designer. This week I finished eight quick drawings to start my twenty days of cats for the last set for #the100dayproject, created a toile de jouy Spoonflower Challenge design, and added to the democracy illustrations.

The summary:

Cats — the first eight, and a bit about an artist gem, Jennifer Nichols

Toile de Jouy — the how-to process, a template, and a vibrant result of folk art rabbits in the garden

Values of Democracy — art to save democracy with two posters and a shout out again to Calvin of Drifter Studio [ drawing crowds.] and Lisa Bardot

The tip:

Drawing every day for The 100 Day Project helped me create assets I can reuse for other projects, including the challenging Toile de Jouy project. I already had the bunnies in folk art style ready to go. I just needed to thicken the lines a bit, which may have meant changing the folk art a bit. It didn’t take much time though, and I was ready with five rabbits for creating the design, which I explain that plan in the Toile de Jouy blog post. Those same bunnies appeared in a first project, Vintage Bunnies and Bugs.

So set aside time to draw each day– who knows what concept, like the folk art bunnies, that daily drawing will inspire, and that inspiration will become savable assets for later illustrations and designs!

Thanks for checking in!

It’s been a busy week of illustrations!

I love drawing 20 days of cats–to capture the attitudes of the queens of pets. If you have any questions about my process, just ask! I’d be glad to help with what I know.

The toile de jouy, a challenge for me, is now something I want to create more. I think my great-grandkids would love the simple lines, designs, and scenes, with a dab of color. Is the style making a come back? They’d make great DIY projects for kids, for family rooms. What do you think?

And of course, art to create hope and reminders of what democracy means. Make art. Save the world

You can find many helpful artists teachers on my Artist Resources  page. Take a look at their IG and YouTube. Find one that fits your learning and art preferences and stick with them a while to develop your skills. Every day, another aha!

You’re welcome to follow this blog for art inspiration. We can share with #warmup4art to enjoy our work together! I look forward to your sharing and find me at @42Sheri, on Mastodon Sheri42, on Flickr teach.eagle Sheri 42.

Thank you!

    1. I really debated with the two blues bunny and the vibrant one. The suggestion was to break the rules and be vibrant, so that’s the one I chose for the challenge. Thanks for your kind words.

LOL– I misspelled a word after I replied, and the choices below my comment to edit were then in French! I recognized “modifier” or something like that as “edit.” I may learn some French through our conversations. 🙂
