#the100dayproject: CATS
On Monday, I finished the last of 100 drawings, one each for a hundred days: 20 of each: bunnies, bears, birds, dogs, cats. Hooray! You can see all my posts for these with this tag: #the100dayproject
The 100 Day Project I participate in is from Lindsay Jean Thomson with a website, IG, and podcast. The hashtag is #the100dayproject.
The goal was to make a plan for drawing every day for 100 days– five to ten minutes. That seems doable, doesn’t it? I’ve completed:
and now, 20 cats.

As you can see, many days were just five minutes of thinking and drawing, and others were longer than ten minutes. The same is true for the entire 100 drawings and paintings.
Many of the pieces from the daily drawing became patterns or cards, demonstrating the importance of drawing every day.

I am thankful to Jennifer Nichols of Creative Journey [affiliate link] for her class on drawing cats– especially the side view and the eyes:

I was a bit disappointed in my cats. I kept trying to draw my own cat, a cross between a tabby and tortoise shell cat– the cats with “cattitude” and “tortitude.” She’s a wild one. Her fur is so hard to illustrate, but I kept trying on Days 84 and 90. I tried different brushes, blend modes, and types of strokes, but I still could not capture her they way I wanted to. Look at all the different colors in that fur! Since she’s my cat, you know I’ll keep trying.

Of all the styles and mediums I attempted, I love the very last one– the folk art style. Those will become more patterns, for sure.
If you have any questions about drawing every day, just ask.
