Wednesday WrapUp Fruits and Wildflower

Welcome!

On most Wednesdays, check this blog for a strategy, process, or reflection for illustration with the iPad app ProCreate or Affinity Designer. This week I continued with my sticker project and designed an entry for the Spoonflower Cottage Core Design Challenge.

Fruit Stickers

I’m working on Summer Fruit/Lunchpail Stickers. I repurposed several pieces of Procreate illustrations from recent years to create a hero pattern and a repeat pattern, creating a mockup for each duo. Now I need to check each hero and, if needed, add a bit of white to the background so there are no “holes,” such as between leaves or branches that would not work as stickers.

The next step will be to order the stickers– I’ll use Printful because that is easiest to connect to Etsy. I’ve also ordered stickers from there already and know their quality is good, like this state flower sticker for my next set of stickers.

I created a hero and pattern so I could connect the two as products — like stickers and coffee mugs or greeting cards, for instance. Here’s an example of three mockups, including one mockup of a sticker.

I also created a “fruit truck sticker,” seen at the top of the post, a modification from Lisa Bardot’s tutorial for Artmakers Club. I have not made a pattern for that one yet, but it will include some of the fruit heroes. If you’d like to read more about the stickers, check out this week’s post: Working On Summer Fruit Stickers.

Cottagecore Design Challenge

I spent much time this week for the Cottagecore Design Challenge. I started with a trailing pattern of the wildflower salsify, which blooms in our area. Then I created a story pattern to include salsify, garden trowel, watering can, and vase. Finally, I added a gingham background to really create a cottagecore design. Read about the process here: Preparing for Cottagecore Design Challenge.

Thanks for stopping by!

It doesn’t seem like a lot, but I’ve got 7 stickers/patterns and one more to go for a pattern [ truck ]. And several salsify patterns to upload to Spoonflower, Red Bubble, and Zazzle. Just two projects, put a lot of possible products!
