Wednesday WrapUp Stroke Width Tool

Welcome!

On most Wednesdays, check this blog for a strategy, process, or reflection for illustration with the iPad app ProCreate or Affinity Designer. This week I continued with learning Affinity Designer

Learning…. Affinity Designer

I’m taking the MasterClass for Affinity Designer from Delores Naskrent. I’m determined to learn Affinity Designer, and I know that Delores knows all the tips and tricks and processes from other classes I’ve taken from her.

I revised the bouquet and vase from the previous post Florals in Affinity by redoing the shadow and adding the dropped flower. The shadow was created by drawing around the flowers and vase with the pencil tool, closing the shape, and filling it with black. I adjusted the nodes, then added special affects, a gaussian blur and placed the layer on Overlay mode.

The flower is simply duplicated, lightened, and sheared to stretch it out as if it is slightly laying down.

In the previous post I mentioned how I had made the vase with a new tool. It’s a tool that pulls out the line stroke directly on the line without using the stroke pressure window. It’s called the “Stroke Width Tool” and the icon looks like a football. Here I explain it; excuse my froggy voice. Just draw a line, and then pull directly from the center of the stroke on the line to widen an area. Choose another area and pull the result up, down, in, or out as needed for the object or shape you want, in this case a vase.

Thanks for stopping by!

I’m a bit late with the wrap-up, but Delores keeps us busy with her marvelous Affinity Designer lessons. I thank her and appreciate her specific and helpful tips, strategies, and organizational planning. I’ve also been busy organizing with community members to prepare for the upcoming issues plaguing our nation by the current administration. Hard times are coming as the billionaires get richer on our time and money.

If you have any suggestions or questions, please share and ask.
