Quatrefoil in Gold and Teal

Simple Quatrefoil by Sheri42

Quatrefoil with Tracey Capone

I received an email from Skillshare about Tracey Capone’s new class, Surface Pattern Design in Affinity Designer | Quatrefoil Motifs Three Ways by Tracey Capone on Skillshare.

It’s fantastic — a step by step tutorial for creating three different quatrefoil designs from basic shapes, turned into symbols, so you can easily change the entire design by changing the chosen motif’s symbol, which you see at the top of the screenshot of my first simple quatrefoil design. By changing one motif, all the others, also the same symbol repeated, will also change.

Tracey walks us through creating the motif, making it a symbol, and then creating the pattern. We did this for three types of Quatrefoil, which may be prefect for the upcoming Spoonflower design challenge, Jewel-Toned Boho Design Challenge. The challenge is looking for ornate decadence, so quatrefoil will fit!

Here are my other quatrefoils in the same limited palette. Let me know if you want the palette; I can add that to the post.

I’m going to need to make a floral design in this palette to make a collection. A stripe blender too would be nice. Then I will also create one in the emerald greens, navy and royal purples suggested in the design challenge.

What are you waiting for? Take the class!
