PROCESS
I found the palette — the hex codes for hues of mint. I sketched a mint plant, then drew the stem, filled in the leaves on another layer. Added the veins, then shadows and highlights. The last three with clipping masks on separate layers. Last I added a wider, textured brush — juicy paint angled — over the stem in the same color on Screen blend mode. I then erased horizontal strips away from the stem on that color layer to create the furry stem. I lowered the transparency and slimmed it up with the eraser tool.
I added the shadow, duplicated the rough sketch and brought three of them into the background, fading away.
I created a highlight layer at top right, and a shadow layer at bottom left. The background color is a complimentary of the light mint.
I created a full cover background with the haphazard hatches brush, duplicated it, placing one on screen and one on multiply mode. I erased the bottom of the light one and the top of the dark one and added Gaussian blur slightly, lightly. Then I smudge a bit to blend them together.

Was that fun? Yes– it was play time, and I like it. If you have any questions, just ask.
