5 Cards in 5 Days
I’m taking, again, Delores Naskrent’s 5 Cards in 5 Days. It’s a fast paced, content filled course that starts with sketches and ends with learning to upload to a greeting card site for sale. This will be my third time– this one includes both Procreate and Affinity Designer sections.
Day 1
On Day 1 the main thing we do besides all the basic info and resource downloads is to sketch possible ideas for our greeting cards, considering a theme and color. I’m still choosing my color scheme, but you can see I started with the sketches above. The class also suggests trying the theme of Mothers Day, so I took those sketches and turned them into sketches for Mothers Day.

The next step on Day 1 is to choose a sketch and create a card.
Sketch and First Card

The finished card is already revised once — I added in the textures on the flower and the leaves. Then I decided to change the color theme and add even more details. I made sure the overall background dots were visible, added more texture to the leaves and stem, and added another flower for balance.

Day 2: So much, and a template
In this content filled part of the course, we learned how to use our own assets, reuse assets and change them for totally different cards, and how to do this in both Affinity Designer and Procreate. I had trouble opening the provided template so I created my own.
First I made my own assets and added them to my asset studio:

Then I created my own card with a few of those assets, which I placed at the side of my art board canvas. Then I added each motif to my symbol studio and inserted several to design the card.

I created two cards, one for Mothers Day and one for my friend Peggy tomorrow.

I can now save this card as a template to resuse over again, just switching out the symbols, which I hope to show you tomorrow.
If you have any questions, just ask!
