Wednesday WrapUp Color and Cards

Making Art Every Day

The September 2025 art challenge by @bardotbrush with @lisabardotinvites participation in creating and sharing artwork. Artists will explore colors, techniques, and tutorials, fostering creativity together. The color palettes today were created by artist Ana Bianchi  @analovescolor. I try to spend less than 30 minutes on these. I only worked on one prompt the last week: Geranium / terra cotta. The brushes were Lisa’s Gouache Paintbox and Imperfect Pattern brushes. Here’s a replay too. I’m especially pleased with the flowers. More info in the post.

Spoonflower Design Challenge

For this art illustration, I revised a piece I’d shared before, but not on Spoonflower so I was able to use it there for the Garden Tapestry Challenge.

Think about it: Walk through lush florals in an overgrown romantic garden of nature’s beauty in earthy colors of dusty rose, creamy white, and sparkled sand with hidden creatures. Yes, bring the meadow inside!

Lots of info on the post.

5 Cards in 5 Days Challenge with Delores Naskrent

I’m taking, again, Delores Naskrent’s 5 Cards in 5 Days. It’s a fast paced, content filled course that starts with sketches and ends with learning to upload to a greeting card site for sale. This will be my third time– this one includes both Procreate and Affinity Designer sections. I’m sticking with Affinity Designer.

Days 1 and 2 take you through my sketches and choosing one to create, revising it afterwards. For Day 2 I created a template with symbols to design a card that will be easily revised For details, see the post.

Day 3– a blast and fast creation using Delores’s template. I created various greeting cards by modifying templates and experimenting with colors and motifs across three projects AND modified the template from yesterday by changing up the foliage and flowers. All this is done by using symbols; replace the symbol and all the motifs of that symbol change automagically throughout the card. For details, see the post.

Thanks to Lisa and Ana and Delores

This week was great following palettes of certain hues of color and watching the illustrations pop with color or flow in similar hues, whether illustrating for Making Art Every Day or for the Delores’s #5Cards5DaysChallenge. Thanks for the September 2025 art challenge by @bardotbrush with @lisabardot for the inspiration and tutorials that helped so many of us play with paint styles and color, and to Delores Naskrent’s 5 Cards in 5 Days, a fast-paced, content-filled course for creating greeting cards.
